The Chestnut

The chestnut trees are large and usually their height can reach 35 meters. Either wild or cultivated for their delicious fruit and good quality timber and as an decorative tree in various parks.

The chestnut should be located at an altitude of over 250 meters as it does not thrive at lower altitudes.

The tree blooms in the spring and the chestnuts ripen from early September to late November depending on the conditions and the variety.
Famous varieties are the Pelion chestnuts and Crete.
