Olive

It is an evergreen tree, with bladed leaves, leathery, dark green on the upper surface and silvery on the bottom. The flowers are whitish, unilateral and small forming inflorescent botryose (shaped like a bunch of grapes) and appear at the end of May, while the fruit ripens and is harvested in late autumn and early winter.

The fruit of the olive tree is essential to the Mediterranean diet, as an edible fruit and because of the fact it produces olive oil.

The fruit of the olive tree is a wonderful source of monounsaturated fatty acids. The olive provides fiber and minerals in the body and is a source of vitamin E which is a natural antioxidant.
